Five Surprising Foods for Better Sex

When finding foods to set the mood right you probably think of chocolate, candy, and champagne. Turns out you should probably serve those with a side of garlic if you’re really trying to give your sex life a boost. Find out what five foods you can add to your kitchen that might set your bedroom on fire (in a good way!)

When munching on a celery stalk, I don’t think “sexy” as much as I think “hungry rabbit,” but since rabbits don’t seem to have any problem getting it on, maybe the veggie really is an aphrodisiac. Celery contains a hormone that men release through sweat that gets women all hot and bothered. For best results, eat it raw, and save putting peanut butter and raisins on it to make bumps on a log for the kids.

Every time I see that Quaker Oats man all I think is sex, sex, sex! I can barely keep my hands off of the box.
Okay I kid. But oats help balance estrogen and testosterone in the body, boosting libido in women and men. Try having this true breakfast of champions a couple times a week. Bonus: oats are also touted as being good for fighting heart disease, weight management, and can even help beat a hangover.

I must be eating the wrong avocados because nothing about this fruit to me looks like testicles. Yet, the Aztecs named the avocado tree “ahuacatl,” translation: “testicle tree.” It was named because it apparently looked to them like testicles hanging from a tree, but avocados also have some libido boosting benefits. They contain high levels of folic acid, vitamin B6, and potassium which combined give you more energy, increase male hormone productions, and regulate women’s thyroid glands. Try eating it fresh, by the time it turns into guacamole at your fast food Mexican spot the benefits have probably been watered down a bit.

An apple a day might keep the doctor away, but an orange a day might help you get laid ( how many of you just crossed apples off your grocery list and wrote in oranges- ya nasties!) All citrus fruits are rich in antioxidants, which help promote men’s reproductive health. Try a grapefruit with your oatmeal in the morning and bam! Certified sex treat.

The smell of garlic on my husband’s breath doesn’t make me say “come closer” as much as it makes me say “go far, far, away and don’t come back without a breath mint.” Even so, garlic helps increase blood flow to the sexual organs to help you get your, ahem, juices flowing. If you don’t find it sexy to smell like you just rolled around in some garlic cloves, you can also take garlic capsules instead to get the libido boosting benefits.

I looked up a few aphrodisiac foods for our anniversary when I cooked dinner and was surprised about garlic too. Celery you say? Looks like I’ll be juicing celery a lot more!
